1) Interested in just listening in for the info. Not looking to change career positions. Have many colleagues in transition and thought it would be good info to have.
2) Not currently job searching, but interesting topic that could prove useful down the road.
Questions asked at time of registration:
1) Have you ever been interviewed by telephone? 17 Yes / 6 No
2) What are your greatest concerns about being interviewed by telephone?
a. Body language is so important in any communication. Since that element does not exist over the telephone, how do you ensure you connect with the interviewer?
b. That the employer will not get a true grasp of who I am, you cannot see a smile over the phone! Also, when engaging in a phone conversation and not directly infront of the person, there is the chance I may become distracted by something around me.
c. Having the conversation too one sided with the interviewer firing off questions, and not having the opportunity to have a business conversation.
d. not being able to look the person in the eye...sincerity is crucial.
e. Cannot "see" interviewer's NV response to be responsive –
f. You cannot see the interviewer's eyes.
g. Being able to sell myself well and making a connection with the interviewer. It's a challenge to be interviewed when you have no visual cues as to what the interviewer is thinking.
h. It's more impersonal and making a great first impression with a phone interview.
i. That I'll talk too much! Also, can't read the person (body language, etc.). Less personal. Don't know who else may be listening.
j. I will talk too much and give answers that are too long. Face to face, I can judge a person's level of interest and alter what I say..over the phone I can't tell.
k. Striking the balance between guiding/shaping the phone interview and taking it completely off course.
l. Messing up simple questions.
m. Not to be able to connect with the interviewer.

o. It lacks the same personal interaction as a face to face interview.
p. Coming across as uninterested.
q. What to say - I need a script.
r. Not being prepared when they ask how much $$ you expect to earn.
s. Being disqualified for reasons un-known to me; sharing info or asking questions that may be better discussed face-to-face.
